That sentence comes up in almost every first conversation about affiliate abuse and trademark infringement — in search engines and in every other channel. These are the numbers from four customers who stopped accepting it: in CPC, in affiliate commissions and in revenue.
“You can't do anything about it anyway” is the sentence that comes up again and again around brand abuse in search engines. The work with GORE® was therefore not primarily about detection — it was about building a workflow in which infringements are uncovered without gaps and then actually eliminated in a second step.
With the unjustified bidders removed from the auction, the price of GORE's own brand terms fell with them.
Affiliate monitoring
The focus of the work with Viking was the affiliate channel. We set up highly automated, systematic monitoring of affiliate activity across eleven countries — running continuously rather than as periodic spot checks, which is the only way regionally and time-restricted campaigns become visible at all.
The saving is recurring, not one-off: every year the monitoring stays in place is another year those commissions are not paid out.
The work with Condor was aimed at reinforcing their commitment to quality and transparency in the partner channel: stricter compliance with their terms and conditions, specifically preventing brand bidding and undermining ad hijacking.
Partners breaking those terms were identified individually rather than in aggregate, which is what makes a commission reversal defensible.
Brand protection and growth
For Vision Healthcare, affiliate marketing had to do two things at once: stop leaking budget and keep growing. Implementing the AdPolice affiliate brand-bidder tooling reduced fraud and strengthened brand protection, and the refined affiliate strategy that followed made the channel both compliant and materially bigger.
